Rome, May 7 (LaPresse) – “Clearly Giorgia Meloni and her government, by urging people not to vote in the referendums on June 8 and 9, are acting out of fear. Because finally Italians will have the chance to express themselves on citizenship and labor – areas the right-wing government has made increasingly precarious over the past two and a half years by siding with the powerful and forgetting the most vulnerable. Moreover, calling for abstention is a betrayal of the constitutional principles that define voting as a ‘civic duty.’ A government that fears the people’s voice is a government that fears the people themselves. We, as the Democratic Party, reaffirm our commitment to the five 'yes' votes in the referendums,” said Democratic Party Secretary Elly Schlein.
