Referendum, Manfredi: ‘I support the citizenship question, but abstain on employment’

Rome, 6 May (LaPresse) – ’I supported the referendum on citizenship because I believe in a new integration law that looks to the future. The future lies in the ability to integrate energies from all parts of the world, including the Mediterranean. I believe this is a very important referendum. With regard to the referendum on employment, I prefer a major reform that looks at new forms of work and the new needs that are emerging, especially among young people. I believe that employment is the real emergency we are facing today.’ These are the words of the president of ANCI and mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi. Pressed by reporters asking if he intends to vote no on the questions regarding labour, Manfredi replied, ‘I will abstain’, suggesting that he will go to vote but leave the ballot blank.
