Rome, 24 April (LaPresse) – ‘Today marks the anniversary of liberation from Nazi occupation and the defeat of fascism. It is not just today that I personally, and my political party, have been convinced of the need to respect and fully adhere to the values of the Constitution and therefore to respect the date that saw the return of freedom. I would like to read a part of the document written in Fiuggi, in which we stated without hesitation that anti-fascism was the historically essential moment for the return of the democratic values that fascism had trampled on.’ These were the words of Senate President Ignazio La Russa during the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of Liberation in the Senate Chamber.
