Milan, 11 Apr. (LaPresse) – ’Today we come to the Salone to listen here too to the voices of the businesses in such an important supply chain, which is worth more than 50 billion, very much devoted to export and which in these days has suffered the consequences of an uncertainty caused by Trump's announcements. We continue to insist that the European Union must act and negotiate, strongly united, ready for targeted and proportionate actions that will hit where it hurts most. We ask the government to be ready to support families and businesses, as other European governments have done, starting with the Spanish government’. So said the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, on the sidelines of her visit to the Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan. ‘We are calling,’ continued Schlein, ‘for a major joint investment at the European level. We are calling for a plan that makes 800 billion euros available each year for an industrial, energy, social, innovation, environmental and common defence plan. We also ask for a re-evaluation of the tools to support labour, as was the case during the pandemic, the SUR tool, the 100 billion on social safety nets’.
