Rome, 8 Apr. (LaPresse) – ‘Donald Trump's tariffs are nothing more than a form of economic extortion against the governments of the rest of the planet. It is outright blackmail, aimed at covering up a huge and out of control US public debt. Trump has made it clear: he wants European countries to buy energy from him. And Italy already seems ready to comply. In the export plan presented by Minister Tajani in response to American tariffs, it literally states that, in order to rebalance Italy's trade surplus with the United States – equal to 38.8 billion euros – our country would be willing to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) and weapons from the USA. This is why Giorgia Meloni is attacking the Green Deal: because it intends to tie Italy even more to energy dependence on fossil gas, with very high costs for citizens. This is Giorgia Meloni's patriotism, to defend and represent Trump's interests. Let's take the slaps in the face of the sovereignism that is destabilising the planet’.
