Rome, 26 Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘I have been accused of being responsible for the number of suicides in prison, the appointments of the guarantor, prison overcrowding, pan-penalism, mothers in prison, a crusade against wiretapping, the dossier on parliamentarians and more’. Thus Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, speaking in the Chamber of Deputies, where the motion of no-confidence tabled by the opposition (with the exception of Action) against him after the Almasri case is being examined. ‘The government is accused of disloyalty to the Chamber’ and, he added, ‘we are moving forward in a complex Cahier del Doléances, reminiscent of the Inquisition, in which only the accusations of simony and blasphemy are missing,’ he added.
