Liguria, Bucci: ‘Health deficit covered, there will be no service cuts’

Genoa, 25 Mar. (LaPresse) – On 17 January, the MEF requested a provision of 50 million for 2025, on the health budget for 2024, specifying that this provoked immediate protests from all the Regions. ‘The 19.2 to date, which I am almost certain will be reduced next week, including the 50 that may have to be set aside in 2024, according to the Ministry, are all fully covered by the 2024 surplus’. So said the President of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, reporting on the health accounts and the current budget deficit of 19.2 million. Bucci pointed out that there are 487 million reported in the Budget, the ‘surpluses’ that include coverage of both the 19 and the 50. They are compatibly included in 2024 and there will be no effect on 2025. ‘There are no service reductions anywhere,’ he assured, “there are no requests for reductions in hiring or health services, on the contrary, we are hiring more and we are increasing services to cover the waiting lists”.
