Milan, March 1 (LaPresse) – "Dear President, the images of yesterday's confrontation at the White House have caused distress worldwide, effectively altering the contours of foreign policy and the international framework. A political event of primary importance that directly challenges all consciences, causes unease in large sectors of public opinion, and demands a political-institutional reflection in the natural place of our democracy, Parliament."
This is how Davide Faraone and Enrico Borghi, group leaders of Italia Viva in the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, expressed themselves in a letter sent to Presidents Lorenzo Fontana and Ignazio La Russa.
"Following the summit to be held in London tomorrow and before the extraordinary European Union Council on March 6 regarding Ukraine, it is inevitable and urgent that the Prime Minister come to report in the Chambers of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, in order to perform the natural guiding function that our Constitution assigns to Parliament. The future of the Union is at stake, and the centrality of Parliament cannot be questioned," the letter reads.
"I therefore ask you to be the spokesperson with the Presidency of the Council so that starting Monday, the Prime Minister comes to report in the Chamber within the framework of a debate that is becoming more and more necessary by the hour," conclude Faraone and Borghi.
