Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – ‘Anyone who knows me knows full well that I would never threaten to resign; it’s simply not in my nature. If I felt it necessary, I would simply resign.’ Defence Minister Guido Crosetto wrote this on X, responding to certain media reports. "Two days ago I wrote a tweet commenting on my British colleague’s resignation. Two days later, two journalists picked it up and included it in two articles, linking it to a meeting at Palazzo Chigi three weeks ago and to future decisions on defence spending. On the basis of these things, they infer that, in the tweet which any of you can read, I threatened to resign," says Crosetto, who clarifies that the message referred exclusively to the resignation of his British colleague and the reflections he had expressed: ‘The tweet is sincere, blunt, but very clear, because I say that I fully share the concerns and reflections of my former UK colleague,’ ‘but after having fought to the very end for the things I believe to be right. I think that was written very clearly in the tweet.’
