Barcelona (Spain), 9 June (LaPresse) – The Iberia A320 aircraft, which departed from Madrid and is carrying Pope Leo XIV, has landed at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat International Airport. The Pontiff was welcomed on his arrival by the President of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the city’s Archbishop, Cardinal Omella. Thus begins the second stage of Provost’s apostolic journey in Spain, the highlight of which will be the solemn Mass at the Sagrada Familia, marking the centenary of the death of the architect Antoni Gaudí, and the blessing and inauguration of the Tower of Jesus Christ, the tallest in the basilica, scheduled for tomorrow evening.
