Milan, 9 June (LaPresse) – Caddell Construction has announced that it has launched “a thorough internal investigation” following allegations of illegal labour practices made by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the working conditions of labourers at the US Consulate construction site in Piazzale Accursio. The Alabama-based construction giant, to which the US Government has entrusted the construction of consulates, states that it is treating the investigation ‘with the utmost seriousness’, carrying out ‘verification activities’ and cooperating with ‘the judicial authorities and local authorities’. The aim is to ensure “that all our global partners operate in full compliance with all standards and legal requirements regarding working conditions”, with “respect for human dignity, principles that have always distinguished Caddell”, writes the company, represented in Italy by lawyer Andrea Puccio. “Caddell reaffirms its commitment to ensuring fair treatment of workers and their proper remuneration,” the statement adds. “We will continue to cooperate in good faith and with the utmost transparency with all relevant authorities, in order to ensure the well-being of all those involved in this important project.”
