Milan, June 4 (LaPresse) – “We are asking for justice and truth, and certainly for a life sentence; that is what he deserves.” These were the words of Piergiuseppe Rota, partner of Uma Smirnova, mother of Pamela Genini, who was killed on October 14, 2025, by her former partner Gianluca Soncin, speaking on the sidelines of the first hearing of the trial before the Court of Assizes in Milan. “We are facing this with great courage and strength,” Rota continued, “and we are asking for a real life sentence for the person who committed this act.” Regarding the desecration of the grave, Rota ruled out Soncin’s involvement. “In my opinion, the truth lies elsewhere, it has nothing to do with him,” he said. “The investigators are on a good track and they will certainly find the person responsible.” On the possible admission of Francesco Dolci as a civil party, Rota was unequivocal. “No comment, because I wonder on what grounds and with what right,” he continued. “I really think the request will be dismissed and thrown out.” “Every day he misled the investigation,” he concluded, “and that caused delays, because investigators are obliged to look into and verify what he says. It all proved to be false and not credible.”
