Lucca: illegal sales, 250 kilos of tobacco seized

Lucca, 28 May (LaPresse) – The Lucca Financial Police carried out a series of inspections at tobacco shops, finding that three businesses owned by non-EU nationals lacked the necessary authorisations. These individuals did not meet the minimum requirements to obtain the required permits from the Customs and Monopolies Agency. The fraud was easily carried out by registering the tobacco shop in the name of an Italian national who does not actually work in the business, but serves solely to obtain the licence that would otherwise not be issued. The operation carried out by the Lucca Tax Police, during three separate simultaneous raids, led to the seizure of over 250 kg of manufactured tobacco, with six individuals reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Lucca.
