Turin, 11 May (LaPresse) – A joint operation is currently underway in Apulia, led by the Bari District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the Foggia Public Prosecutor’s Office, and coordinated by the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate. The Foggia Mobile Squad has executed 18 personal precautionary measures in relation to multiple incidents of extortion against Foggia-based businesspeople, carried out using mafia methods and with the aim of aiding the Foggia mafia and its cells. In addition, two other prominent members of the Gargano Mafia have been arrested by the SISCO in Bari and the Foggia Mobile Squad in connection with the brutal and heinous double murder of Nicola Ferrelli and Antonio Petrella, which took place in Apricena on 20 June 2017. The alleged perpetrator of the murder of Stefano Bruno and the attempted double murder of Saverio Bruno and Pasquale Bruno, which took place on 29 April, was also apprehended by the Foggia Mobile Squad and the Investigative Unit of the Foggia Carabinieri Operations Department.
