Rome, April 25 (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV will pay a pastoral visit to La Sapienza University in Rome on May 14. This was announced in the Vatican Press Office bulletin, which specified that it will be a “pastoral visit.” The Prefecture of the Papal Household has released the official programme of the Holy Father’s visit to La Sapienza University in Rome, scheduled to depart from the Vatican at 10:00. Arrival in front of the University Chapel “Divina Sapienza” is set for 10:20, where the Pontiff will be welcomed by Rector Antonella Polimeni. At the entrance of the church he will be greeted by Rector Don Gabriele Vecchione. Inside, a brief moment of silent prayer is planned, followed by greetings to a group of students. At 10:30 the Pope will travel by car to the central square of the university, from where he will greet students from the monumental staircase. At 10:45, in the Rectorate building, a private meeting with the Rector is scheduled, followed by the signing of the Book of Honour. At 11:00, in the corridor in front of the representative office, the Holy Father will unveil the commemorative plaque of the visit and greet members of the Academic Senate and university staff. At 11:15 he will visit the exhibition “Sapienza e il Papato,” while at 11:30, in the Aula Magna, he will meet with professors and students. After the Rector’s greeting, the Pope will deliver a speech. At the end, there will be an exchange of gifts and greetings with a student delegation. At 12:15 the Pope will once again appear on the monumental staircase for a final greeting to the students before departing the university, scheduled for 12:30. Return to the Vatican is set for 12:50.
