Naples, 31 March. (LaPresse) – The preventive interrogations of the cardiac surgeons Guido Oppido and Emma Bergonzoni of the Monaldi hospital have begun before the investigating judge of the Court of Naples Mariano Sorrentino, who the Prosecutor accuses of manslaughter and forgery in the context of the investigation into the death of little Domenico Caliendo. For the crime of forgery, the Prosecutor's Office (prosecutor Tittaferrante, added Ricci) requested a ban from the medical profession. The prosecutors accuse the head physician Oppido, defended by the lawyers Alfredo Sorge and Vittorio Manes, and the deputy Bergonzoni, defended by the lawyer Vincenzo Maiello, of having altered the medical records in relation to the start time of the clamping of little Domenico's "native" heart, which occurred before the arrival of the explanted heart in Bolzano and which later revealed itself to be damaged when the box was opened. Bergonzoni's interrogation began at ten, followed by Oppido's hearing. The two heart surgeons are under investigation for manslaughter together with five other doctors and paramedics from Monaldi.
