Rome, 5 March (LaPresse) – "In the spring of 2025, “Le Iene” broadcast the testimonies of a group of women who recounted alleged abuse, violence and exploitation they had suffered while working in the adult entertainment industry. Together with them, we initiated a reflection on consent, a highly topical and debated issue worldwide. We have learned from several articles published in major Italian newspapers that Mr Rocco Tano has taken legal action for defamation against our programme and the women who recounted the alleged violence and abuse they suffered, both on and off set. “Le Iene”, today as then, is certain that it has acted with fairness, professionalism and transparency, in full exercise of its right to report on a matter of clear public interest, especially at a time when the vast majority of women still do not speak out and report the violence they have suffered out of fear'. This is stated in a note from the programme “Le Iene”. “We are surprised to note,” the text continues, 'that the news of this legal action, together with the version of the man accused by the women interviewed, is receiving more attention than the accounts of the alleged victims. Our reports, contested by Mr Rocco Tano, are available on the Le Iene website (www.Iene.it) and Mediaset Infinity (https://mediasetinfinity.mediaset.it) for anyone who wishes to explore the issue further. We are confident that the truth will prevail in the appropriate forums."
