Rome, 19 January (LaPresse) – "Neither I nor my family members have ever harmed Serena. I am innocent and do not know who could have harmed her. She never came to see me that day. I already told the police this when I was questioned. The hypothesis that I pushed Serena against the door is false and is ruining our lives. I only found out about the broken door in the Carabinieri barracks in Arce in March 2008 when my father told me that he had broken it during an argument with my mother." These are the words of Marco Mottola, who made spontaneous statements in court before the Rome Court of Appeal, where he stands accused, along with his father Franco and mother Annamaria, of the murder of Serena Mollicone, a student from Arce in the province of Frosinone, who was found dead in the Fontecupa woods in June 2001.
