Rome, 12 January. (LaPresse) – "I would like to express my condolences and those of the entire council to the family of the worker who died inside the former Ilva steelworks. This is a time of grief, and I feel I have little to add. I agree with the reasons for the strike announced by the trade unions, which for years, together with the institutions, have been complaining about the disastrous and unacceptable conditions at the steelworks, including in terms of safety. Finally, I trust that the investigations by the competent authorities will shed full light on what happened." This was stated in a video message by the mayor of Taranto, Piero Bitetti, regarding the accident at work at the former Ilva plant in which worker Claudio Salamida lost his life.
