Rome, 8 January (LaPresse) – A dramatic turn of events in the death of Matilde Baldi, the 20-year-old girl from Montegrosso d'Asti who died in an accident on the Asti-Cuneo motorway before Christmas. The Asti Public Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained the arrest of Franco Vacchina, the entrepreneur driving the Porsche involved in the crash. The man is accused of attempting to tamper with evidence to hinder the reconstruction of the facts. According to investigators, Vacchina engaged in behaviour aimed at tampering with evidence from the accident that cost the life of the girl from Montegrosso d'Asti. For this reason, he has been placed under house arrest. On the evening of 11 December 2025, Matilde was travelling in a Fiat 500 driven by her mother Elvia, who was injured in the face when the car was rear-ended. According to investigators, the entrepreneur, who was arrested and placed under house arrest, was participating in an alleged illegal high-speed race with two other cars.
