Milan, 6 January. (LaPresse) – "At Niguarda, we have 11 patients hospitalised, some more serious than others, but all 11 are critical, and we still have a guarded prognosis for them. Their conditions vary from very extensive burns, covering up to 70 per cent of their bodies, to burns that are perhaps much less extensive but have compromised vital functions. For this reason, all patients are still in critical condition, but in the coming hours, they may see a positive development, certainly not a negative one, we all hope, but certainly a positive one." This is according to Alberto Zoli, general manager of Niguarda Hospital, on the condition of those injured in the New Year's Eve tragedy in Crans-Montana, who are being treated at the Milanese healthcare facility. “For this reason, we still have patients in intensive care and others in semi-intensive or less intensive care,” he explained. “They are certainly receiving all the necessary treatment, but we must emphasise once again that we are talking about patients with severe burns, sometimes with compromised vital functions, such as breathing. Given this situation, the prognosis remains uncertain”.
