Rome: 33,000 road accidents in 2025 with 124 fatalities and over 12,000 injuries

Rome, 27 December (LaPresse) – From 1 January to date, the Rome Capital Local Police has recorded approximately 33,000 road accidents throughout the municipal area. This figure represents a slight increase compared to the same period in 2024, when there were approximately 32,000 accidents. According to LaPresse, the number of accidents with injuries remains stable at around 12,700, in line with last year. Until November, the death toll was significantly lower than in 2024, but the first weeks of December have reduced the gap. To date, 27 December 2025, there have been 124 fatalities, including the latest recorded yesterday, compared to 125 last year. The number of pedestrian deaths has fallen from 58 to 48, as has the number of motorcyclist deaths, which has fallen from 46 to 38. On the other hand, there has been an increase in the number of victims travelling in motor vehicles and other means of transport, including electric scooters and bicycles.
