Rome, 22 December (LaPresse) – Television sports journalist Enrico Varriale has been sentenced to seven months' imprisonment, suspended, and ordered to pay provisional damages of €2,000 to the victim for the crime of threats and assault. The trial, before a single judge at the criminal court in Piazzale Clodio, reclassified the crime of stalking, for which the former Rai journalist had been reported by an ex-partner. According to the woman's complaint, Varriale slapped her at the height of an argument. In June, the Rome court had already sentenced Varriale to 10 months' imprisonment for beating and harassing his former partner. The events date back to 2021.
