Rome, 16 December (LaPresse) – From 7 January, visiting the Trevi Fountain in Rome will cost two euros. The ticket to access the monument, the second most visited in the capital after the Colosseum, will be required for tourists but not for residents of Rome, for whom access will continue to be free. The new arrangement will include two lanes, one for tourists and one for Romans, separated by brass posts, and it will be possible to pay by credit card. The decision, explains Corriere della Sera, was supported by the Councillor for Tourism and Major Events, Alessandro Onorato, and endorsed by the administration, with the aim of protecting the fountain. The introduction of a ticket for the Trevi Fountain could represent a windfall of €20 million for Rome's municipal coffers, considering that in the first six months of 2026, the monument was visited by over 5.3 million tourists, more than the Pantheon in the whole of 2024.
