Rome, 25 Nov. (LaPresse) – ‘I found the minister's words very offensive. In fact, he is calling me anti-Semitic. But his management of public order has been disastrous; Piantedosi is flexing his muscles to hide his weakness’. This was stated by the mayor of Bologna, Matteo Lepore, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, responding to Home Secretary Matteo Piantedosi on last Friday's clashes in the Emilian capital during the Euroleague match between Virtus Bologna and Maccabi Tel Aviv. " I immediately expressed my solidarity and closeness to all the officers, who were faced with hundreds of violent individuals who had come from the rest of Italy, and perhaps beyond, to commit crimes. These people must be condemned and identified. Unfortunately, this almost never happens. I would also like to point out that I was one of the targets of the chants because I had taken a stand in favour of the game going ahead. This cost me insults and threats. All the more reason to put aside any exploitation," added Lepore.
