Rome, Nov. 21 (LaPresse) – Unrest in downtown Bologna during a pro-Palestine march before the Euroleague basketball game between Virtus Bologna and Maccabi Tel Aviv. According to Bologna police headquarters, the march, which began at 7 p.m. from Piazza Maggiore and involved about 5,000 people, stopped for several minutes around 7:40 p.m. on Via Lame near the Tper kiosk: some demonstrators covered their faces and dismantled parts of a construction site, collecting barricades, wooden sticks, and other materials. Then, around 8 p.m., some protesters began throwing numerous smoke bombs and glass bottles at police officers. Fireworks were also fired at law enforcement at head height. Many took sticks from the construction site. At that point, police explain, it became necessary to use water cannons to disperse the crowd.
