Ostia: 12 arrests for drug dealing, cocaine and crack seized

Rome, 10 November (LaPresse) – At dawn, Carabinieri from the Ostia company, acting on behalf of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office, executed an order from the Capital's investigating magistrate, leading to the arrest of 12 people, all seriously suspected, in various capacities, of possession and dealing in drugs. The investigations carried out by the military personnel of the Ostia Operational Unit – coordinated by magistrates from the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office's Department for Widespread and Serious Crime – made it possible to gather serious evidence regarding the drug dealing activities of the suspects, who had set up a 24-hour drug sales point in an illegal building on the ground floor of a condominium in Via dell'Idroscalo in Ostia. The investigations made it possible to reconstruct the methods used to distribute drugs at retail level, through a system of “lookouts”, “runners” and “pushers”, who were also linked by family ties. During the investigation, the Carabinieri arrested eight people in flagrante delicto, seized approximately 1 kg of drugs (cocaine and crack), worth around €30,000, as well as €12,000 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of illegal activities.
