Milan, 24 October. (LaPresse) – The State Police arrested a 34-year-old man from Catania, known to the police, who, on Tuesday morning, violently attacked his 31-year-old wife, kicking, punching and slapping her several times, continuing to assault her while she lay helpless on the ground. The woman suffered serious injuries. The intervention was prompted by a report made by the victim herself to the operations room of the Catania Police Headquarters, interrupted by the man who was still present at the scene after the attack. The police were immediately alarmed by the unclear situation, made even more confusing by the woman's screams and cries. Within moments, a patrol car arrived at the entrance to the building, while an officer from the operations room attempted to talk to the victim, who was unable to speak and was moaning. Once in front of the entrance, the police officers noticed a light on inside and therefore knocked repeatedly on the door until the woman, a 31-year-old from Catania with a swollen face and heavy bleeding from her head, managed to crawl to the door. After opening the door, the woman collapsed again on the floor, supported by the officers, who called for immediate medical assistance from the 118 emergency services and administered first aid. The young woman, who had recently undergone surgery and suffered from a chronic condition, had to be rushed to hospital, where, after multiple tests and the necessary treatment, she was prescribed 45 days of complete rest. The prognosis is still uncertain due to the evolution of her compromised clinical condition. Doctors diagnosed a broken nose and severe head trauma.
