Brussels, Oct. 21 (LaPresse) – “What happened to me is an intimidating act. I still don’t know exactly for what purpose, and this is the aspect that worries me the most. It comes after 3–4 years of initiatives, many of which were not publicized because I did not want to create the effect that, when something eventually materializes, no one would believe you, but it is a step up compared to the previous activities of false dossiering, bullets, and threats I received,” said Sigfrido Ranucci at the seminar at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize.

“The lawsuits are a tool of delegitimization; they have often replaced bullets, because in the 1970s–80s the problem of an inconvenient journalist was ‘solved’ with a bullet, killing them with explosives,” he added.
