Trento, 3 October. (LaPresse) – ‘This is not an isolated case: Trentino is unfortunately still a hunting ground for poachers and vigilantes, a veritable Wild West with an administration that in recent years has done everything to fuel a breeding ground for reactions that have led to the killing of foxes, bears and wolves.’ This is according to Massimo Vitturi, head of wildlife at Lav, regarding the discovery of the skin of a skinned bear cub in Fondo and the discovery of the carcass of a bear shot dead in Caldes. ‘After all the cases of poaching that have occurred in Trentino since the day it took office, the Fugatti council once again seems unwilling to take a clear position of public condemnation of the perpetrators, limiting itself to considering them responsible for something akin to childish mischief,’ added Lav. Our legal department is already preparing a detailed complaint against those responsible for the recent death of the two bears, which will be filed shortly to reiterate once again that poaching cannot be combated with lukewarm institutional words, but with strong legal action that will serve as an example to all those who believe they can take the law into their own hands, in contempt of animal life and national and European laws protecting wild animals'.
