Vatican City (Vatican), 25 September (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV will participate in the opening of “Raising Hope for Climate Justice” on 1 October. The initiative will be held at the Mariapoli Centre in Castel Gandolfo. The event, which will bring together over 400 religious leaders, climate experts, representatives of civil society and institutions from around the world, aims to outline the next steps in implementing ecological conversion in light of the Church's teaching. “Raising Hope for Climate Justice”, which will run from 1 to 3 October, is promoted by the Laudato Si' Movement in collaboration with various ecclesial and institutional partners, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si'. On 2 and 3 October, the conference will continue with working sessions, round tables and spiritual moments with more than 50 prominent figures – religious leaders, scientists, representatives of civil society and the political world. The initiative will be presented on Tuesday 30 September at a press conference in the Vatican. Speakers will include Cardinal Jaime Spengler, Archbishop of Porto Alegre, President of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference and CELAM, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Governor of California and President of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative.
