Rome, Sept. 19 (LaPresse) – Rome is gearing up for the derby between Lazio and Roma with a massive security plan involving all law enforcement agencies, supported by cutting-edge technology. Drones and helicopters from the Flight Unit will monitor the movement of fans. The capital is preparing for one of the most anticipated football events of the year: the city derby between Lazio and Roma, scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Police Headquarters has drawn up a detailed and extensive security plan. State Police helicopters and high-altitude drones will provide full visual coverage of the main access and exit routes to the stadium, transmitting real-time images to the Event Security Management Center. This will allow continuous monitoring of the situation and rapid intervention in case of emergencies.
The organizational machine was set in motion from the early hours of today, with fans beginning to prepare choreographies. The control system was finalized in detail during a technical meeting held this afternoon at the Police Headquarters in Via San Vitale, with the participation of all parties involved.
The security perimeter will extend well beyond the stadium: police, carabinieri, financial police, and Rome’s local police will also keep watch over the city center and high-risk areas, such as spots frequented by hardcore ultras and tourist zones where foreign fans tied to local supporter groups are expected to gather. For the occasion, police have arranged separate routes for the two groups of fans: Roma supporters will follow one path, Lazio fans another, in order to avoid clashes and tensions.
