Milan, 16 September (LaPresse) – Marco Cappato, treasurer of the Luca Coscioni Association, has announced his intention to help “Fabrizio”, who has decided to go abroad for assisted suicide “due to serious delays on the part of the local health authority”. “It has happened again: 'Fabrizio”, 79, has an irreversible illness that causes him unbearable suffering and is kept alive by life-sustaining treatment,' Cappato wrote on social media. 'Despite this, the National Health Service has refused medical assistance for voluntary death, even though it is his right as established by the Constitutional Court. This time it happened in Liguria, but it happens all the time in other Italian regions.‘ ’We must respond with systematic collective civil disobedience to allow “Fabrizio” and all people like him to obtain in Switzerland the help they would be entitled to in Italy. As of today, the “Soccorso civile” association, which has 43 members and of which I am the legal representative, is open to those who decide to help people who, under certain conditions, want to access assisted death following a refusal in Italy."
