Milan, 13 September (LaPresse) – Italian boats belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla, the international mission aiming to reach Gaza to bring aid to the population there, have set sail from the port of Augusta. Among the sailing boats that left Sicily is the “Karma”, carrying activists from Arci and Italian and European parliamentarians. ‘Our presence on board the Global Sumud Flotilla,’ says Walter Massa, national president of Arci, "is the natural continuation of Arci's commitment to the freedom and dignity of the Palestinian people. Sailing to Gaza means reaffirming that the Mediterranean is not a dividing border but a space that unites peoples against war, sieges and injustice. Breaking the siege is today an act of justice, a collective non-violent action that calls on the international community to ensure respect for the law and rights." On board the Karma, according to a statement from Arci, are Giacomo Migliore – Arci-TOM Commander, Mirta Bonvicini – Arci-TOM co-skipper, Margherita Cioppi – Arci-TOM mission leader, Arturo Scotto – PD deputy, Annalisa Corrado – PD MEP, Paolo Romano – Lombardy PD regional councillor, Saverio Tommasi – Fanpage journalist and president of Sheep Italia – Yassine Lafran, president of Ucoii.
