Rome, Sept. 9 (LaPresse) – Giusi Bartolozzi, current Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Justice, is under investigation by the Rome Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the case of Osama Njeem Almasri, the Libyan commander who was arrested in Italy last January and quickly repatriated.
Her name has been added to a broader case file that already includes other members of the government. The Tribunal of Ministers has requested authorization from the Chamber of Deputies to proceed against Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, and Justice Minister Carlo Nordio.
The charges revolve around the handling of the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court and the coordination of the subsequent repatriation. Bartolozzi is suspected of the crime of making false statements to a prosecutor, as defined under Article 371-bis of the Italian Penal Code.
According to documents and testimonies collected by investigators, Bartolozzi allegedly played a key role in internal communications within the Ministry during the critical days between Almasri’s arrest on January 19 and his return to Libya on January 21.
