Milan, Sept. 3 (LaPresse) – “We have said everything. What more can we say? He said everything during his life. I have little to add. All his colleagues have spoken. We have received messages of affection and esteem from all of dad’s colleagues, and it has been truly beautiful.”
With these words, Sveva, the daughter of Emilio Fede, remembers her father who died yesterday at the age of 94 at the San Felice residence in Segrate.
“They asked me this morning how I am, and I said I’m fine. I haven’t slept; I have done nothing but respond to messages of affection and read the testimonies from all of you colleagues. Now I’m going to see dad, and we’ll meet on Thursday at the funeral,” she added.
“The last hours, as I said, were like his whole life—a battle until the very end, with infinite courage, head held high, with no intention of giving up. Even the doctors were amazed at how much he fought. He fought until the end; he didn’t want to leave. In a way, he didn’t want to go because his spirit was so strong that he resisted everything, and on the other hand, he was peaceful because he was going to join mom,” she continued.
About his faith: “He was a man of faith. I don’t think he left with any regrets. I believe inside he knew, had put things in order, had time to put everything in order.”
Finally, Sveva reflected on the legacy her father left to his daughters: “Never to give up, always to fight, to get up, to walk with your head held high knowing what you have done and not paying attention to gossip or other thoughts or external behaviors.”
