Rome, Sept. 2 (LaPresse) – “For six days, 41 people were abandoned by Italy and Europe in the Mediterranean, aboard the merchant ship Maridive.” This was reported by the NGO Sea-Watch on its social media channels.

“Among them, a seriously ill minor and a man with diabetes—no one came to help them,” the statement continued. “They were at risk of being captured and pushed back to Tunisia by the Tunisian Navy, but before that could happen, we managed to intervene with Aurora.

The 41 people are now on board our fast vessel. We are heading north and have medical cases that require urgent care.

Once again, while European states looked the other way, civil society rescued people in danger.”
