Rome, 29 August (LaPresse) – "Today we remember the sacrifice of a man who paid with his life for his courageous refusal to bow to Mafia violence. The assassination of Libero Grassi on 29 August 1991 did not prevent the civil rebellion movement against the arrogance of organised crime, born from the entrepreneur's public denunciation, from growing stronger over time." So said Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. “Dignity and freedom,” he added, 'are invaluable. Legality and justice are necessary conditions for building healthy and lasting development. This is his legacy. These are the principles that guided him in his decision to oppose racketeering with determination and without hesitation. This is why the memory of Libero Grassi continues to be a source of inspiration for those who fight the mafia and its logic of abuse every day and work for a freer, stronger and more united Italy," concluded the Home Secretary.
