Naples, 20 August. (LaPresse) – Civil actions seeking millions in damages have been filed by lawyers representing TV presenter Stefano De Martino ‘not only against the hackers responsible’ for stealing images and videos from the private surveillance systems of the artist's partner, ‘but also against all those who, knowingly or unknowingly, viewed, disseminated or commented on such content in violation of privacy’. Lawyers Angelo and Sergio Pisani, who are defending De Martino, have stated that ‘this time we will not limit ourselves to criminal proceedings, but will also ask the Data Protection Authority, as well as in civil proceedings, for severe sentences and exemplary compensation, hitting both cybercriminals and social media users who do not delete other people's data from their phones and who, in doing so, have fuelled insults and speculation, even involving minors’.
