Rome, Aug 19 (LaPresse) – An orange alert has been issued in Liguria and Lombardy in the coming hours due to bad weather. An Atlantic weather front coming from France, the Civil Protection Department reports, is expected to move toward Italy, bringing unstable weather conditions across most northern regions and partially affecting central regions. Based on available forecasts, the Civil Protection Department, in agreement with the regions involved—which are responsible for activating local civil protection systems—has issued an adverse weather warning. The weather phenomena, affecting different areas of the country, may cause hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities, summarized in the national bulletin of hazards and alerts, available on the Department’s website (www.protezionecivile.gov.it
).

The warning predicts, from this afternoon, Tuesday, August 19, scattered to widespread precipitation, mainly thunderstorms, first affecting Valle d’Aosta and Piedmont, then extending to Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Tuscany. The events will be accompanied by heavy rain showers, frequent lightning, local hail, and strong gusts of wind. Based on the current and expected phenomena, for Wednesday, August 20, an orange alert has been issued for parts of Liguria and Lombardy, while a yellow alert applies to the remaining areas of these two regions, as well as to Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Tuscany, and some areas of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Marche.
