Rome, July 31 (LaPresse) – “The blockade of aid and disorganized, dangerous food distributions not only fuel despair and internal violence in Gaza but also worsen the burden on an already collapsing healthcare system. Medical facilities supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) treated hundreds of people injured at food distribution points and during ongoing attacks in Gaza between July 27 and 28,” MSF said in a statement.

“Aid distributions, which provide only minimal amounts of food, are causing deaths and injuries and are placing additional strain on already exhausted medical teams,” the statement continues.

“On July 27, medical teams at the Sheikh Radwan clinic, supported by MSF in northern Gaza, treated more than 150 patients during five different mass casualty influxes. Fifty-four people suffered gunshot wounds, crush injuries, or stabbings while trying to get food,” MSF added.

“The Al Zawaida field hospital in Deir Al Balah has exceeded its capacity and can no longer accommodate new patients. In just three weeks, the facility increased its capacity from 70 to 115 beds, but this is still not enough to meet the massive medical needs.”
