Ancona, July 29 (LaPresse) – Andrea Cavallari will likely be extradited tomorrow, Wednesday, July 30, from Spain. According to the Ancona Prosecutor’s Office, Spanish authorities have approved the extradition, and relevant institutions are currently finalizing the documentation needed to organize the return to Italy of the 26-year-old from Modena. Cavallari is a member of the so-called "spray gang" and was convicted for the massacre at the Lanterna Azzurra nightclub in Corinaldo (Ancona), where five minors and a 39-year-old mother died in a stampede in 2018. The young man is expected to be taken to a prison in Rome, possibly Rebibbia or Regina Coeli, although this has not been officially confirmed. The Ministry will later decide where Cavallari will serve his sentence. The 26-year-old escaped from Bologna’s Dozza prison on July 3 during a temporary release granted for his university graduation. His two-week escape ended on the morning of July 17, when he was found in a hotel in Lloret de Mar, near Barcelona. He was located thanks to an investigation by the investigative units of the Ancona and Bologna carabinieri, along with the Bologna prison police. Cavallari received help during his escape, and investigations into possible accomplices are still ongoing.
