Rome, 28 July (LaPresse) – Macron's proposal to recognise the State of Palestine? ‘We have already recognised it. “Da mo”, as you say. For us, that is the solution, i.e. the recognition of two states living side by side in autonomy and security’. This was stated by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin on the sidelines of an event for the Jubilee of Influencers. On the question of whether recognition of the Palestinian state might be premature, Parolin replied: ‘Why premature? In our opinion, the solution lies in dialogue between the two sides, even if the situation in the West Bank makes everything more difficult. Finally, on the outcome of the investigation into the Israeli attack on the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza, Parolin said: ’I have no further information to make a different assessment. We have not been able to conduct an independent investigation. We accept the findings of the Israeli army, but we insist that caution be exercised because the impression is that these mistakes are often repeated. Particular attention must be paid to prevent places of worship and humanitarian institutions from being hit."
