Tav, Piantedosi: ‘In Val di Susa, it's not dissent but urban guerrilla warfare’

Milan, 26 July (LaPresse) – "What happened today in Val di Susa, during the demonstration linked to the so-called “Festival dell'Alta Felicità” (Festival of High Happiness), is simply shameful. Behind the façade of a “cultural” event, yet another unacceptable act of organised violence was carried out against the state, its infrastructure and those who defend it. And to think that someone had the courage to criticise the Security Decree: today, in the face of yet another premeditated and gratuitous attack, those rules are proving not only relevant but absolutely necessary. We need clear and rigorous tools to defend the law and the safety of citizens." This was stated by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi. “Misrepresented, violent, perfectly coordinated groups,” he added, “broke through fences, set fire to structures, and threw stones and smoke bombs at the police. This was not dissent, but a real act of urban guerrilla warfare. It is the worst face of ideological extremism, which must be isolated and firmly repressed”.
