Mountains, 21-year-old missing since yesterday found dead in Piedmont

Turin, July 20 (LaPresse) – A 21-year-old who had gone missing yesterday in Demonte, in the province of Cuneo, was found dead. The young man had left in the early afternoon for a short hike toward Vallone dell'Arma. Only late in the evening did his family notice he hadn’t returned and raised the alarm around 12:30 a.m. After an initial search in the dark, operations resumed at dawn, involving the Alpine and Speleological Rescue of Piedmont, the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza, and the fire brigade. During a foot search, a joint Sasp-Sagf team located the body at the base of a rock face, from which the young man likely fell while walking along a steep slope. A civilian alpine rescue doctor confirmed the death, while the Guardia di Finanza Alpine Rescue handled judicial procedures. The body was recovered by a fire brigade helicopter.
