Rome, July 16 (LaPresse) – The Court of Appeal in Rome has reduced the sentence of Costantino Bonaiuti to 24 years in prison. Bonaiuti, an engineer, was originally sentenced to life imprisonment for the January 2023 murder of his 35-year-old ex-partner, Martina Scialdone, outside a restaurant on Via Amelia in the Tuscolano district of Rome.

The appellate judges overturned the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, which led to the lighter sentence. The victim, a lawyer, was shot dead with a legally-owned sporting pistol after a violent argument that began inside the restaurant and continued outside.
