Milan, 14 July (LaPresse) – A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Police identified and arrested the man, a Cuban national, in Monza for the assault, which took place last week along the Villoresi canal in the eastern part of the city. When he was tracked down and arrested, the 25-year-old already had a plane ticket to Spain in his pocket and a suitcase ready for departure. It was the girl who called 112 last Thursday, 10 July, reporting that she had been raped the day before. When the police arrived at her home, the 13-year-old said she had met the man at Monza station. He had told her he was 17 and she had agreed to meet him on condition that they would not be alone. However, the man managed to convince her to stay alone with him, reassuring her that they were heading to a busy area, where the assault then took place. The victim's account was dramatic. Although shocked, she managed to provide investigators with key information both for reconstructing what had happened and for identifying the perpetrator. After the initial approaches, the man spread a towel on the grass, inviting the girl to sit down and take off her shoes and socks, and only then did he reveal his true age. At this point, overcoming her resistance, he abused her, also using a gel he already had with him, clear evidence of premeditation. After the assault, the young woman tried to escape barefoot, but was caught by her attacker, who threatened her with a knife not to say anything and, as if nothing had happened, took her back to Monza station.
