Milan, July 13 (LaPresse) – The State Police, following an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Milan, recently executed a pre-trial detention order issued by the investigating judge against a 16-year-old Iranian citizen living in the province of Milan. The teenager is accused of propaganda and advocacy of terrorism, as well as training for terrorist purposes, with aggravating circumstances related to the use of telematic means.
According to the State Police, the investigation was carried out by the Milan DIGOS – International Anti-Terrorism Section – in close collaboration with the Central Directorate of Preventive Police – Service for Combating Extremism and International Terrorism – along with AISI and AISE. The probe originated from the monitoring of radical online environments aimed at preventing and countering the spread of potentially violent content and self-radicalization phenomena.
The police reported that several social media profiles came under scrutiny, including one run by the suspect, who publicly referred to himself as the "nightmare of skyscrapers," a clear allusion to the September 11 attacks. He had posted numerous materials glorifying ISIS and jihadist attacks, as well as training content and open incitement to martyrdom, and shared direct links to ISIS propaganda sites with his many followers.
