Milan, 12 July (LaPresse) – The Privacy Authority has adopted, ex officio and as a matter of urgency, a measure to block a person who is making available online, for a fee, a video containing images of Chiara Poggi's autopsy. According to the Authority itself, this constitutes a “serious violation of the dignity of the victim and her family”. With the same measure, the Authority “warns the media and websites that any dissemination of the images would be unlawful as it would be in breach of the Code of Ethics for Journalists and privacy legislation”. The Authority therefore invites ‘anyone who comes into possession of these images, including the media, to refrain from disseminating them, which – also in consideration of the violence inflicted on the victim – would seriously damage her dignity and that of her family. The Authority reserves the right to take further measures, including sanctions’.
