Rome, July 11 (LaPresse) – Francis Kaufmann, the American citizen accused of the double homicide in Villa Pamphili, had a turbulent return to Italy. During the flight, he reportedly became agitated, verbally assaulted the escorting officers, and claimed he had been beaten. He also threatened legal action against everyone present. Kaufmann appeared visibly disturbed throughout the flight. Upon arrival in Ciampino, he will be transferred to the secure unit of Rome’s Rebibbia prison, where he will remain in custody pending a preliminary hearing. The hearing date will be set in the coming days by the investigating judge. The Rome prosecutor’s office, under Deputy Prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini, has charged Kaufmann with double voluntary homicide.
